Cision, imma let you finish, but Sterling Effort has created the best UK Personal Finance Blog Ranking System of all time. All time. Well, that?s not entirely true. The Top Personal Finance Blogs feature over at TotallyMoney was pretty cool. However, a week ago, we realised this feature no longer existed and thought this hole in the UK scene should be filled. So we got to work?
Ash, the killer coding ninja monkey has been coding his monkey balls off. I have been adding all of the lovely blog details into a database like a level 1 computer analyst from a James Bond film who you JUST KNOW is going to get his face blown off before the first ad break.
However, together we have finally created something new. BEHOLD! The Sterling Effort UK Personal Finance Blog List! Thing.
Or SEUKPFBLT for short.
Catchy.
Sure, we already have the ranking systems at Wisebread and Money Crashers (and we clearly took inspiration from those systems) but they cater for international blogs with a strong bias towards US and Canadian audiences. Over the last few years, a lovely personal finance scene has been?coalescing?in the UK, and we?re proud to be part of that. The UK has its own specific financial products, laws, politics and culture. This often means that we can be bombarded with?inappropriate?or even dangerously?inaccurate?information when digesting content from foreign sources.
Our shiny new SEUKPFBLT?page is a place for consumers to find new blogs to read. It?s a place for bloggers to check up on their progress of their blogs and to understand how well they stack up against their peers. It?s a place for digital media experts to find appropriate contacts within the UK blogging community.
We?ve tried our best to make the ranking?algorithm?as fair as possible. You will note Sterling Effort?s rank is modest and we believe that?s correct. We?ve taken into account lots of fun issues such as the?exponential nature of PageRank, the inaccuracy of Alexa compared to other sources and?OK, I?m already?bored?of the technical speak. But rest assured we?ve put a lot of effort into making an algorithm that we really believe represents the current state of the UK personal Finance blogging scene. That said, we?d be happy to receive any feedback anyone has to offer.
On a serious note, please appreciate that it takes almost 4000 bags of Pistachios to get the code monkey to do anything useful so this is both an awesome and expensive deal.
Tesco roasted, salted Pistachios = ?3.00 per bag
3 x 4000 = ?12,000 GBP
Lastly, you may run (or know of) a UK based PF blog that doesn?t appear on our list. This is entirely my fault, especially if my face got blown off before the aforementioned ad break. Fear not however; just let us know via our contact page and we will add any appropriate blogs to the list.
