Unbeaten prospect Daniel Cormier will welcome veteran Jeff Monson to Strikeforce when the heavyweights square off at ?Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Rogers? on June 18 in Dallas, the promotion announced Sunday.
Cormier (7-0) topped Devin Cole in January to push the wrestling standout?s win streak to seven, while Monson (42-11) has won eight-straight over the last 10 months.
Cormier was originally slated to face Shane del Rosario before he was recently sidelined by a car accident.
A lightweight matchup between Gesias ?JZ? Cavalcante and Justin Wilcox is also in the works for the event, which features Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum, Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers, and Gina Carano?s return against Sarah D?Alelio on Showtime.
