PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti ? The Haiti reconstruction panel co-chaired by former President Bill Clinton is announcing a major new project to rebuild part of the capital damaged in last year's earthquake.
The Interim Haiti Recovery Commission plans to spent $78 million to revitalize 16 neighborhoods and remove people from six major settlement camps that formed after the earthquake. The commission announced the effort Wednesday in a statement released just ahead of a Clinton speech.
The commission says the project will help thousands of Haitians move back into their homes. The International Organization for Migration estimates that about 630,000 Haitians are still without homes.
