Article by allen shawn

Depression is a condition affecting the levels of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin ? the chemical most related to happiness ? is one of the neurotransmitters thought to be affected heavily by depression. Combined with changing levels of dopamine and epinephrine, a fluctuation in serotonin will affect the body?s desires to eat, sleep and exercise. Depression and weight gain are closely related, because very often people want to relieve the stress and bad feeling by eating. Being on a weight loss program during a depression period can be very demanding, but if successful, can be a tremendous boost to self confidence and help with depression also.

On the other hand, being over weighted can contribute to depression because we easily lose our self confidence and have a bad self image, which can trigger depressive and negative thoughts and feelings.Girls and women seem to be even more effected by depression and weight gain. Even many post pardum patients report a connection between their depression and a feeling of ?fat?. Wives have reported that their sex lives suffer with weight gain which in return makes them more prone to depression.

Depression and weight loss can be tackled at the same time with exercise. You can be helped by finding a friend who wants to undertake the specific exercise alongside you. This will keep you in a regular habit if you have someone to meet. So if you are going to the gym or for a run or walk then arrange to meet at the agreed venue. The foods that are causing this depression and anxiety are foods so commonly found in our local supermarkets and are often thought to be healthy foods when in fact they are overly processed and carry very little nutritional value. Leaving our body?s vitamin deficient and prone to storing excess fat.

There are many reasons why we feel hungry or sated. Most of the time, we feel hungry because our bodies truly need nourishment. Other times, however, we crave food due to stress and depression. When you are depressed, you are likely to consume more food than necessary. The hoodia gordonii and its plant extract contain an active ingredient called P57 which makes you feel that you have just eaten a full meal. Weight loss from depression is specific to the individual and their diagnosis. There is no precise therapy for anyone suffering from such symptoms, and individual results may vary. Changes in weight that parallel a period of depression may not be the result of an additional eating disorder.
