Regarding The Ledger's editorial on Dec. 17 ["Change To Popular Vote"] the Electoral College is a prime example of the Founding Fathers' wisdom. It prevents relatively small geographical areas with huge, dense populations of like-minded individuals (New York, California, Chicago graveyards, etc.) from permanently electing their party's candidate as president.
